MIHS  Incoming Freshman – Important Information

January 9th – Online Registration sessions close

January 17th – Registration Session 1: 4:40pm to 6:30pm Session 2: 7:15 to 8:00pm

January 18th – Registration Session 3: 6:00pm to 8:00pm
January 23rd – MIHS Information night (open to all) 4:30pm to 5:00pm followed by the Curriculum Fair in the commons at MIHS 5:30pm to 7:30pm
January 29th – Skyward closes for 8th graders to register for MIHS 9th grade classes

Aug TBA – 8:00 am to 12:00pm MIHS Freshman fee and photo day for Back to School 2017 at MI high school

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony

An Idea of what the Ceremony will look like – The Promotion Ceremony is a celebration for families. It is held at Mercer Island High School in the gym and runs like a graduation-type ceremony. The purpose of the night is to honor our 8th graders and spend time reflecting on the last three years of learning while at Islander Middle School. Eight 8th grade students will share their memories throughout the evening, and we will hear music from our Jazz Band, our Choir and our Orchestra.  All 8th grade students will be recognized throughout the night by having their names read as they shake hands with administrators and receive a Keepsake Folder.  The Promotion Ceremony begins at 6:30 pm. We ask that all students arrive at MIHS no later than 6:00 pm. The event is ‘semiformal’. We ask that students choose attire that best respects themselves, their families and the fact that this is an 8th grade event. The floor of the gym is covered with a loose carpet, and that can make walking in any type of heels a bit of a challenge.

Typical instructions for the 8th Grade Celebration – All 8th Grade Students are expected to participate in celebrating their promotion. We’ll be loading up on school buses at IMS at 10:30 a.m. and returning around 2:30 p.m., in time for regular dismissal at 2:50 p.m. Festivities could include: multiple food and drink stations, billiards, ping pong, skee ball, hoops, board games, magician, photo booth, karaoke…the list goes on!

What to Bring: A great attitude to celebrate one of the best days of your life!

What NOT to Bring: purses, backpacks, iPads, homework.

Attire: Whatever you would wear to school.

Payment Instructions:

This event is not funded through the PTSA so we need each family to contribute Payments can be made Online (with a $3 processing fee) or by check.

 Please complete and sign the party permission form, bus permission form and return to the IMS student office along with a check for $65 payable to IMS PTSA or indicate on the party permission slip that you have paid Online by….

Please write your student’s name on the memo line of your check. Return check and/or completed forms to front office in the box marked 8th Grade Party.
