President’s Letter

A Message from our PTSA President

Dear Islander Middle School Families,

The colors of Fall are starting to appear and the kids are settling into the school routine.  Our PTSA leadership and committees are in full swing.  Staff Appreciation Luncheons are underway with the next luncheon planned for October 5th.  Students will be pleasantly rewarded on October 13th with Gator Treats to show our appreciation for their hard work at school.  And on October 11th, new students of every age and their families are invited to attend the Mercer Island School District New Family Welcome event at 6:00 pm at IMS.

Our PTSA Membership Drive is still going and we have reached 47% of our goal of 100% participation.  It’s not too late to join and receive the benefits of access to our soon-to-launch online PTSA School Directory or participate in the decisions made at our Membership meetings. Our annual ASK Campaign, which funds programs such as Enrichment Grants which directly benefit our students, and activities such as field trips and assemblies, is still accepting donations!  Remember, anything you can give is appreciated and put to good use at Islander Middle School.

For those of you who have already contributed, we sincerely appreciate your support.  And remember we can double your donation through employer match donations.  We have an easy way to find out if your employer will match your donation to IMS PTSA.  Check out Double Your Donation to see if your company matches gifts.

Are you interested in meeting our candidates for MISD School Board and Mercer Island City Council?   You are in luck!  On October 10th, there will be School Board and City Council Candidate Forum at 7pm at West Mercer Elementary.  This will be a great opportunity to hear about how each candidate hopes to impact our community.

Enjoy our beautiful Pacific Northwest autumn!

Best Regards,

Suzanne Riley
IMS PTSA President 2017-2018
